Roon 2.0 and the Roon ARC app

Roon 2.0 is fully compatible with the sonicTransporter and Audiostore Nova music servers

Here are some tips to get you started with the new Roon 2.0 Update

Upgrade your sonicTransporter or Audiostore Nova to the latest code by pressing the Update button (In Nova Software Manager). Do this even if you already have Sonicorbiter OS Version 2.8 to make sure you have all the minor fixes. Detailed instructions on upgrading are available on the sonicorbiter.com FAQ

Make sure your Roon Config is ready by doing the following: Using a web browser, go to: sonicorbiter.com -> Manage-> Settings -> Roon Server. Make sure no checkboxes are selected and press Save Changes

Upgrade to Roon 2.0 – Roon will probably ask you to update in the Roon app. If not, go into the Roon app and click Settings → About and you can force an update from there. Update all the Roon apps on phones and tablets. You can use the built-in update system in your phone or tablet to do that. If you are having issues with your Roon apps, you can delete them and reinstall to manually force an update (From Nova Software Manager)

You will now need to log into the new Roon installation. (You will need to 'Unauthorize' the previous connection). Skip setting up music library folders as they are pre-set in Nova. You will then need to locate and name your playback devices.

Roon ARC is new. It allows access to your Roon library from a remote location (may use a lot of data!)

Load the Roon ARC app on your phone or tablet. It is available for download in the Apple App Store and the Android Google Play Store. To use Roon ARC from outside your home network, you will need to enable UPnP on your router. This allows your router to port forward to the Internet. More information about port forwarding is available here: https://help.roonlabs.com/portal/en/kb/articles/arc-port-forwarding#Overview
